I was born in South Vietnam and came to the United States in 1975 as part of the “boat people.” I graduated from the University of Oregon in 1985, with a degree in Biochemistry. Afterward, I attended medical school at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. After completing my Psychiatry Residency Training in 1993, I opened a private practice in Salem, Oregon. I have been board certified in the field of Psychiatry since 1994. I have additional work experience at the Oregon State Hospital, the Salem Psychiatric Unit, the Children’s Farm Home, and the OHSU Intercultural Psychiatric Program. I was active with Salem Hospital leadership in quality improvement for many years and served as President of Medical Staff in 2000.
I am married and have three children. My hobbies include solving problems, watching movies, reading, fishing, and hiking. In the summer, I like to ride my Vespa.
